MJF representatives travelled to Vanuatu earlier this month, participating in a number of meetings with several organisations in Port Vila. These trips are part of our regular work to deepen partnerships and strengthen ties in the health and education sectors of the country. Outcomes of these meetings include clarification of supply chain and distribution processes as well as options for future MJF projects. We also met with representatives of the Australian High Commission, which is very supportive of the work we do in Vanuatu.
Scott Monteiro, Procurement Manager for Vanuatu Health Resource Mechanism
Haward Mala, Principal of Vila East Primary School
Australian High Commission
Paul Makikon, General Manager of Vila Central Hospital
Vanutu Womens Centre, a shelter for women experiencing family violence
It takes time and a great deal of investment to establish effective pathways for assistance in a country like Vanuatu. Consolidating these pathways through meetings on the ground in Port Vila enables us to donate equipment and resources ethically and responsibly, putting in place sustainable practices as per our donation guidelines. We are also in the process of establishing similar guidelines for the donation of education equipment and resources.
